Looking for a budget-friendly hotel while in Athens? Then check out the Crowne Plaza in Athens City Center. It’s the perfect choice for affordability, cleanliness, and location.
The ride from the airport to City Center was a scenic one and quite entertaining thanks to the taxi driver who’d happened to spend a stint in New York. He automatically thought we connected. During the 45-minute ride, I was offered a number of services ranging from all-day transport to massage with happy endings. Multiple happy endings!
to happy endings!
Athens is grimy and congested. Anxiety came over me as my mind drifted out the window now concerned about the hotel accommodations. You can conduct all the research in the world and arrive at a place only to find its nothing like what you expected or saw online.
Thankfully, Crowne Plaza Athens was spot on! I stayed here overnight upon arrival to Greece before continuing on to Mykonos and again on departure back from Santorini to New York. For the value, it was a great budget friendly hotel.
the deets
Crowne Plaza Athens City Center is clean, spacious, and centrally located. A quick ride from the shopping district of Plaka. They have a full business center, numerous bars, restaurants, and stable internet. Live streaming (i.e. Netflix, iTunes, YouTube, etc.) is blocked by the country and none of the television channels were in English so bring your own movies for entertainment.
Room service was quick and the portion size is enough for two or more people.
The bathrooms are also spacious and the water pressure in both the toilet and shower is excellent.
The rooftop pool and Ambrosia Restaurant are great. I spent breakfast, lunch, and dinner here as you can’t beat the accessibility and price. The variety of dishes were great as a vegetarian and equally sufficient for meat eaters. The feta cheese and Mediterranean seasoning on the food were delicious. To top it off, the view from here is amazing.
Comfortable beds, soundproof rooms, friendly staff, and the right price make this hotel a great stay.
